Olfactory Training
This is a great way to retrain your nose to improve your sense of smell. The recommended regimen involves 4 essential oils of contrasting aroma notes for 20 seconds each, 3 times a day for 6 weeks.
For my (Post-COVID) olfactory training regimen, I chose the following essential oils and placed 15 drops of each in 4 separate nasal inhalers**:
Directions:
Take a strong whiff* (approx. 20 seconds) of each inhaler in each nostril, starting in the order they are listed.
Do this at the same time each day: 12 p.m., 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.+
My routine lasted 25 days straight with a slow progression of smell for each oil. There were days/times where it was less than I had noticed before, but that's ok. Consistency is important because the end results were what I was hoping for. I've finally regained full sense of smell and taste.
Would you like to purchase the four oils? Here's a link where you can get them all. If you decided to try it, please come back and let me know your results!
*If the oil is too strong when you are taking a deep breathe, maybe take it in slowly. Still try to do your best to continue to breathe in gradually so you can get the best effect possible from it.
+If doing it 3 times a day is not possible, aim for 2 times a day, possibly 12 p.m. and 10 p.m. or whichever time early am and later pm suites your schedule.
**I used these colorful nasal inhalers I already had in stock to help keep track of the different essential oils I was using for the training. They're very inexpensive and can be found on Amazon. Order some by clicking here.
